How effective is MiraDry?

Are there any side effects?

Localised soreness and/or swelling in the armpit, which can extend onto the chest wall, is common. This is temporary and generally clears within a few days. Some experience more severe thickening in the armpit called banding which can last a few weeks. Less commonly, patients may experience short-term altered sensation in the skin of the upper arm.

How long do results last?

Since the sweat glands cannot regenerate, MiraDry produces a permanent result. We recommend two treatments 3 months apart.

Is MiraDry effective for body odour?

MiraDry is also extremely effective in treating patients with body odour. In some Asian countries, patients are more likely to have the procedure for odour rather than excessive sweating.

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia by one of our fully accredited MiraDry practitioners. A template is used to precisely outline the treatment area. Local anaesthetic is infiltrated to make the treatment area numb. It also acts as a barrier to protect the underlying structures. MiraDry involves targeted microwave ablation of the sweat glands, destroying them permanently.
