We offer treatment for the entire range of venous disorders
At North Western Vascular, we provide a wide range of services to help treat venous disorders such as varicose veins and spider veins. Venous disorders also include swelling of the leg due to incompetent valves, deep vein thrombosis, and some of these disorders if left untreated can have serious consequences.
Varicose Veins
Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged, and swollen veins under the skin that are caused by damaged or weak vein walls. Generally it’s the veins in the legs which are affected, as standing causes increased pressure on the veins throughout the lower body.
This condition may not cause any pain, only occur as a cosmetic issue for many people, however in some cases it can be painful by causing achiness, burning sensations, throbbing, swelling, muscle cramping, itchiness, and skin discolouration.
It’s important to have varicose veins treated, as the blood pooling inside these veins can form blood clots, which may be dangerous.
Spider Veins
Spider veins are clusters of tiny blood vessels that form very close to the surface of the skin. They’re either red, purple or blue and found on the legs, resembling the appearance of a cobweb.
These veins occur when the valves inside veins stop working properly in the legs, or on the face from sun damage, burst blood vessels and increased pressure.
Spider veins are rarely dangerous, usually only causing cosmetic issues for people.
